Introducing Shelby Township Chiropractor Dr. Chad McKernan
"I was told they were only 'growing pains'." I was constantly in and out of doctor's offices and hospitals when I was a child. I had chronic ear infections that were controlling my life. My head would get locked into a position looking left and I couldn't move it for hours at a time! Everytime I went to the doctors office I was told that they were growing pains and they would eventually go away. I would always walk out of the doctor's office with a prescription. The ear infections would go away, but they would always return after the prescriptions ran out. I liken it to washing your car in the rain. We weren't taking care of the underlying problem, which was a weakened immune system. We were blindly treating the symptoms and ignoring the real cause of the problem. Well, to make a long story short, we went to see a chiropractor. Since then, I have been getting adjusted regularly and haven't had an ear infection.
It was incredible, I’ll never forget that first adjustment. It was as if a huge weight was suddenly lifted from my shoulders. That’s when I decided I wanted to be a chiropractor.
I feel blessed that I’ve found this wonderful field of work. Not only do I have the opportunity to save lives everyday, but my children have the chance to live a full life with optimal health. From birth, my children have received chiropractic adjustments. Neither of them has received a medication in their life. Now that’s awesome! I invite you to check out the power of chiropractic and what it can do for your health.
I was born and raised in the Detroit area. During college, I spent 4 years at Western Michigan University majoring in Behavioral Psychology and interning with children with Autism. After completing my studies there, I was accepted at Life University in Marietta, Georgia. During my four years at Life, my courses included biochemistry, a major emphasis on anatomy and human physiology, X-ray, diagnosis, chiropractic adjusting techniques and patient care in the Life University Public Clinic. While in school, I had the good fortune of spending 2 weeks in South America on a mission trip. I adjusted hundreds of towns people with all kinds of different illnesses. After graduating I returned to the Detroit area to obtain more experience.
Prior to my start in the Shelby Township area, I practiced in Allen Park at one of the largest chiropractic offices in the state. That clinic has seen anywhere from 700-1500 patients a week. Talk about experience! I have seen patients ranging anywhere from 1 day to 100 years old and I'm well versed in many chiropractic techniques that are suitable for all ages.
I enjoy community service and am always doing something for my community. I conduct community talks on many different subjects, ranging from ADHD and Ear Infections to Osteoporosis and hold numerous fund raisers and food drives in and out of his office around the Shelby Township area, including Kids Day America. I maintain membership in several chiropractic associations including "Michigan Chiropractic Association" and "International Chiropractors Association". I am proud to say that I am a Maximized Living Doctor. Maximized Living doctors are dedicated to saving lives. Our mission is to maximize the lives of millions of people so that they can achieve their God-given potential through our health centers, chiropractic coaching, wellness programs and wellness products.
At home, my wife Amanda and I currently have two kids, our son Mason and our daughter Peyton. As mentioned previously, neither or our kids have received a drug or medication in their life. They are vibrant and happy kids and Amanda and I are proud to say that they’ll grow up without having to rely on medication to help them feel well.
I consider myself an excellent listener and hope I get the opportunity to meet you in person and discuss your specific health challenge. So come on in and start getting well today! Give our office a call or email me with the link below.
